At the recent 2022 Network X Event, the Broadband Forum (BBF) presented a well-attended and well-received multi-vendor CloudCO Demo based upon some of its most recent specifications, including disaggregated Border Network Gateway (dBNG), Subscriber Session Steering (SSS), Virtual OLT Hardware Abstraction (VOLTHA) integration, Automated Intelligent Management (AIM), and Quality Experience Delivered (QED).

One of the BBF CloudCO Demo's main focal points is the Zero-Touch Service Assurance Management coordinated by the AIM Framework and enabled by the QED Framework to detect network congestion and degradation and ensure the best service path consistently.

OutSys ProbOS Solution provides some key elements of the QED Framework embedded in the BBF CloudCO Demo.

In the BBF CloudCO Demo, a ProbOS Probe, located at the Subscriber Edge, running in a CPE Container and managed by a ProbOS Orchestrator, takes Network Quality Performance Measurements against a ProbOS Reflector located at the Internet Exchange Edge.

 
 

The results of those measurements are continuously collected, stored, and analyzed by a ProbOS Correlator.

When a Network Quality Degradation is detected, the ProbOS Correlator sends a notification to the AIM Controller that in real-time handles the issue by triggering, through the CloudCO Orchestrators Closed-Loop Automation, the Network Traffic Steering on a non-congested network segment.

The BBF CloudCO Demo successfully proves that AIM enabled by QED can autonomously generate proactive actions to mitigate and constrain network disruptions, improving the subscriber's experience while saving network maintenance costs.

Furthermore, with a reasonable number of QED Probes and Reflectors distributed evenly in a network, generating a meaningful statistical sample of Quality Performance Measurements, the OutSys ProbOS Correlator, powered by its deep learning algorithms, can predictively pinpoint where and how the Quality Degradation is building up and engage the AIM to avoid most disruptions altogether.
